Yes. Imagine the hysteria if the UK or US were to give money and provisions to dark-skinned people in Africa. That's a fairly large chunk of the reason these people are ignored.

Of course people and governments care. Kenya has always received a lot of aid (and support generally) from the Uk due to its history. In fact, if you go back some years, there was almost too much (relative to other countries) and the Brit Embassy in Nairobi redistributed to other east african countries. The other countries in EA are in a much worse state than Kenya (and I am biased in that i love the place). Sadly these droughts are pretty common place now, due to global warming i guess

You are correct in that the West, Middle East oil powers and Asian developed countries must provide more help to developing countries in Africa and Asia to get through this food crisis. It would also help if Mr Putin would stop bombing Odessa and trying to cut off the Ukrainian ports so that one of the granaries of the world can export wheat.

Agreed but longer term the infrastructure has to be put in place to allow more self sufficiency. Supply of water where possible. Look at the map on the BBC article is it possible to use the lake as a water supply with the right investment in pumps pipe work etc.
The point has been made many times before. Certainly eliviate the starvation now but investment to provide a long term solution is just as important..
