Butland - 8 Had a good game all round

Clyne - 8 Another excellent performance and no reason why he shouldn't be first RB next season

Kouyate - 7 Played pretty well considering he hasn't played since the cup final

Andersen - 7 Pretty solid

Guehi - 7 Solid also

Mitchell - 6 Looked a bit off the pace and made a few too many sloppy passes

Millivojevic - 7 Played weld, much better than recent performances

Eze - 8 MotM for me best player on the pitch first half

Gallagher - 6 Another ineffectual game from him, think Schlupp and Eze should be starting ahead of him in the final 2 games

Zaha - 7 Always looked dangerous but too many selfish decisions in the final 3rd

Mateta - 7 Held the ball up well and made some nice runs


Subs:

Schlupp - 8 Was excellent when he came on

Edouard - 6 Didn't really do much

Benteke - N/A Don't remember him touching the ball

Luka's corners were generally pretty good today. One wasted free kick, but in the wheel'o corner takers they were OK.

Spot on re Clyne. Would be perfectly happy to see him start next season. Fairly long in the tooth but with the injuries not that many miles on the clock. Still has a future imo.

And likewise with Gallagher. Not sure if he's just burnt through his Duracell bunnies but on form he just isn't offering much at all.

Think we deserved the win, but they were always a threat with the ball behind/over the top... Quite weird playing a team with 2 up top...

PS - glad to hear that the 1982 Villa team got a good reception from all at the game. Remember that team well - one of my favourite 'other teams' over the years.

I would stop playing Gallagher now unless there's a chance he will return next season

I thought we were very good overall except we didn't take our chances and then found ourselves a goal down. The ref helped Villa get motivated by letting them constantly foul Wilf with nothing given, then awarding them free kicks from nothing. I a!so though Guelhl was fouled for their goal, but VAR probably didn't even look at it. I also liked the formation with the 3 at the back as it enabled Eze to get time on the ball and use it well.

Butland 7 - did nothing wrong all game
Clyne 8 - excellent, also had a couple of good shots.
Mitchell 7 - did well after a few games out
Guelh 8 - another solid game and an assist for the goal
Andersen 8 - defended well and some good forward passing
Kouyate 7 - good defending but too often he gave the ball away with poor passing.
Gallagher 6 - hot and cold, the unnecessary booking changed how he played.
Eze 8 - another good performance and he played some lovely balls. In this formation he does have a future at Palace.
Mateta 8 - he is so more than just a big man up top. He harassed the Villa defenders all game and did some nice touches with the ball.
Wilf 7 - He let his frustrations get to him after no.protection from the ref. Still was a thorn in Villa's side but was another who lost the ball a lot.
Luka 7 - decent performance.

Subs
Shlupp 7 - did what he does best. Score when you need a goal.
Benteke 6
Eduoard 6 - got booked for 1 foul while McGinn got nothing for 6 or 7 fouls.

Gallagher stays in the team , we are paying his wages for the next 2 games and he is a player that makes a big difference to the team , win those 2 games and it could possibly make a 5 million pounds (or more) difference to our prize money at the end of the season .

Shame we couldn't take all the points, but it was a good performance. Not quite there yet, but if Vieira can get this team firing on all cylinders, next season could be a lot of fun. The players look up for it.

Loved watching Eze play today.

I really like Gallagher and would love us to either loan him again or buy for a reasonable price. He offers us something we don't have in the rest of the squad, he works hard and can be a match winner.

But I do think there's a question of whether we would be able to get the best out of him when Eze is also in the team. For that reason I certainly don't think we should break the bank for him if Chelsea do make him available for a huge fee.

With Eze's injury, maybe this was the absolute perfect season to have him.
