Joachim Andersen
Deserves his own thread. His performance against Arsenal will be looked at in the future as legendary despite the result. Best player on the pitch by miles and usually underrated because of Guehi next to him

Unbelievable distribution to Wilf and on par with Glen Hoddles passing ability for those who are old enough to remember him.

he was exceptional.....so much pegged off him, when he put a few hefty challenges in when we were under pressure in the first half and how he followed Jesus when he dropped deep and helped out a midfield that was getting over run. Passing was sublime and he's the sole aerial threat at our offensive set plays as he pulls out wide and heads back into the danger area.....

Fantastic last night. Pinpoint laser like passing and strong in his duels. Richards won't be replacing him based on last night. He might supplement him of course in future games.

Carragher compared him to Ronald Koeman.

Some wonderful passes, a wide players dream, there really does need to be some end product from them.

Easily the best player on the pitch, and not just his passing.

Also some more forward runs from them when Andersen had the ball. I'm not talking about Wimbledon style route 1, but we should have played a few more balls over the top with Edouard's and Zaha's pace. But Edouard in particular didn't really seem too keen on making that sort of run.

He showed just what a good player he is and is much more than just a Centre Back, his tackling and long range passing added with the ability to win headers ok maybe not his strongest point but more than adequate, and ideal for this role. He has the ability to play AHEAD of the Back Four as an old fashioned "6" this is something i have said before and got shot down for it, and now with Richards to slot into the back4, plus our struggle to bring in a partner for Doucoure, Why not give it a try at Liverpool? as we are expected to lose the game regardless, if not then home to Villa might be a good time.
Clearly it is clear to see Doucoure needs a defensive partner alongside who will then allow him to carry the ball forward which he seems desperate to do that would also give Eze support and to play further forward, maybe it should now be considered. |

It was an amazing performance. He had a few dodgy ones last season but both his defending and distribution had gone up a level last night.

World class performance - never seen anything like it at Palace. Makes us so dynamic with those delightful long passes he was making all game. He looked very hungry all game, constantly battling.

What we didn't do well with these balls was get in and around the 2nd ball, was way too easy for them to mop up

He was our most creative player . Set up so many chances for others. His defending sensational too

Someone will be suggesting “play him further forward” soon.
Edit: I see Luke has already done so. |
