If any one would like to suggest any changes feel free, but this thread is not democratic and the power hungry despot in charge will as per F1 make his own mind up.

Rules as follows :

First five places to pick

Win 25 pts
2nd 18 pts
3rd 15 pts
4th 12 pts
5th 10 pts

Correctly predicting driver in top 5, but not in correct position 5 pts.

Pole 10 pts. which will be given to the driver who finishes first in qualification. Note that if a grid penalty is given for behaviour during qualification then this WILL be taken into consideration by your steward. Also that on weekends with a sprint race, the pole position will be as at the end of the Qualification (but may be affected by behavioural grid penalties).
Fastest lap 10 pts
Driver of the day - Choose your driver of the day, and get one point for every position gained during the race. No minus points for lost places. The start position is defined as the position on the grid.

5 Bonus points to be awarded if prediction is made before first practice for the race, times as per BBS clock and actual practice start times. (When a sprint race is taking place, cut off will be the start of the sprint race).
NOTE - A forecast prior to FP1 can be changed up until the start of FP1 as long as the organiser is informed of the change. This will result in the loss of the early bird bonus.
A forecast made after the start of FP1 can be changed with no penalty at any time up to the start of Qualification. A forecast made after the start of Qualification will attract a 10 point penalty.
Long term forecasts MAY be changed between races. However, by definition, they may not be altered again until after completion of the next race.



Therefore, maximum points for a race week are now

(25+18+15+12+10+10+10+20+5 = 125 Points)

Predictions are welcome by PM, please PM Mike Douglas and I will post them on the thread before the race if this option is used.

Note : Timings are taken as per post or edit times if post is changed.

Gentlemen, here is the thread for 2023. Please note that as requested I have introduced (in magenta above) a provisional change to the rules as people did not like the variation between qualification and the sprint race. This rule is subject to discussion and I await your comments/suggestions.

Can we give pole points for "fastest qualification lap" in Q3 i.e. the pole position that is recorded in the F1 history books and not affected by grid penalties.

Grid penalties are an arse as mostly come in last minute and shouldn't affect our predictions.

I would like to see a point per place for driver of the day. Half a point rarely makes a difference.

Wouldn’t it be better to award points to those who correctly get the driver with the fastest lap in Q3, ie the driver who sets the Pole time

Then ignore PENALTIES. It should be about who qualified on pole, not who ended up there by luck

Would make things far simpler, IMO

Not against this, maybe any post qualification grid penalties shouldn't be impacted but if we know Max is taking a new engine prior to qualy that could be factored in by us all? Means nobody will be screwed over by late changes after qualy has actually taken place, but should there be a grid penalty everybody knows about prior to predictions then that is taken into account? Basically (I've got a feeling I've not explained it very well) whoever is on pole at the end of qualifying wins for the purposes of our prediction league?

Would also back a full point for each position on DotD.

I'd also suggest the for sprint race weekends, the cut off for early bird bonus should still be pre qualy rather than pre sprint (otherwise the new sprint qualy rules dont make aren't as aligned.
