Nadhim Zahawi: tax dodging scumbag.
This deserves a thread of its own.
This absolute scumbag is the chairman of the Tory party and a former chancellor of the exchequer… To view the link you have to Register or Login Absolutely bang to rights. Fantastic work from Dan Neidle. He’s lied, bullied and conned his way into an almighty pickle.

Check out the whole story. It’s almost unbelievable. Even in the U.K. in 2023.

Excellent (and brave) investigating, I'm glad Zahawi has been exposed and Dan Neidle has been proven right. Hopefully there are further repercussions regarding his behaviour.

Stories like this show why everyone who cares about Liberal Democracy has to fight for journalism and, in particular, independent journalism. The creeping authoritarianism around the world heavily targets this freedom as one of the cornerstones of gaining and retaining power. We should never become complacent about this freedom, even if we do not always agree with the subject or outcome. Unfortunately, at the moment, we are complacent, and the second pillar of authoritarianism (nationalism) is stoking irrational fear in the general populace. That is a controlled aim and strategy. What we see today is pretty unique (see the writings of Anne Applebaum). Nationalist leaders joined together to drive a change in the world order, not through some sort of shared ideology but through pure cynicism. The irony is that the natural endgame to this if they were to succeed, is that they would fight each other. Nationalism and global partnerships are not natural bedfellows.

But Michael Gove was doing the rounds this morning saying its fine because he (finally) paid back what he owed. Move on, nothing to see here, end of story apparently

for those of us who has been hassled and threated by the tax authorities for sums much smaller and to get the likes of this low life to pay his taxes and many others of the same ilk should not have to rely on good journalism ( although it is to be praised).will this slimeball be prosecuted, lose his job, , be shamed by the tabloids- I think not. The ruling class look after their own

That is a clue to how certain he is. And it's also obvious that he's no anonymous poster talking rubbish (like most of the BBS). And yet the media generally did nothing with the story. Several times on the various 'Partygate' threads I expressed my frustration that the media was obsessing about so-called parties. Boris having a slice of birthday cake was a big story and yet a story like this was largely ignored. Perhaps I'm being too cynical when I wonder if 'Partygate' was a welcome distraction for politicians and news channels as it diverted attention from stories such as Neidle's. And I think it would be very silly to imagine that there are not other examples which are just as bad and just as ignored. And even now, Neidle's story is getting only a fraction of the coverage it deserves. I'm interested in Britabroad's reference to "and, in particular, independent journalism. " It certainly seems that the BBC was long determined to ignore this story. |

The current chairman of the BBC has donated over £400k to the Conservative party I believe.

Irrespective of the fact that Zahawi has cooked the books, it must also be said that he is a dreadful MP

Zahawi is a complete scumbag and thug.
Great expose by Niedle. Alas, whilst there should be a higher bar for someone appointed to be Chancellor, he will get away with it as it will be deemed legally a case of tax avoidance rather than evasion. Scandalous, but hey what do you expect of this bunch of corrupt Tories. |

Latest from Dan Neidle is that Nadhim "nothing to see here" Zahawi has paid the back tax plus interest plus a 30% penalty, coming in at about £5m
