Antoine Semenyo signs for Bournemouth
Probably worth it’s own thread as it’s come from a reputable journalist rather than just a Twitter rumour floating about.
Crystal Palace are considering a bid for #BristolCity striker Antoine Semenyo, who could leave before Tuesday's transfer deadline. Bournemouth had offers of £8m and £10m rejected last week. #cpfc |

I see him as an Ayew replacement as someone who can play wide or through the middle so anything above £8m doesn't seem like a good buy to me.

I have seen him a few times and just do not think he is good enough

Palace and So'ton join race for Semenyo
Crystal Palace and Southampton have joined Bournemouth and Burnley with interest in Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo. Bournemouth, who had a £10m bid rejected last week, are still understood to remain the favourites. But Palace are keen and, although he is predominantly a centre-forward, he can play anywhere across the front-line. Two of Palace’s current forwards, Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew, are both out of contract in the summer. Southampton have also been looking for a striker but missed out on targets the likes of Danny Ings, who joined West Ham, and Arnaut Danjuma, who is set to sign for Tottenham. Burnley preferably want to sign Semenyo in the summer if the current Championship leaders are promoted back to the Premier League. The 23-year-old is a Ghana international who has scored 20 goals and set up 22 more in 124 appearances for Bristol City. He has 18 months left on his contract at Ashton Gate. I just think winger is the last place we need to buy right now. We have Olise, Eze, Wilf, JRS, JKG, Ayew, Ebiowie.
There are far more important positions to strengthen. |

3 of those are on loan.

I'm aware of that, and they've been let out on loan because we have more wingers than we have of anything else.
BCFC have been playing Semenyo as a winger, his goal return isn't great either. |

I read he started out wide for Bristol City but has been used more centrally now. At 22 years old he continues to fit the model. |

Yeah, they've been using Conway as the striker.

They’ve played 3-5-2 a lot this season with Conway, Semenyo ans Nakhi Wells as the strikers.

Think there's a good chance he leaves this window but where to (if he does) is another question. Has found goal scoring form again recently. I'm still not sure about about him either way. |

Bristol City have lost over £60m in the past two financial years and have debts around £32m. Over and above covid they say that a decline in profit from player sales is driving that, so there clearly is some pressure to move some assets - Semenyo and Scott seem the highest rated at the moment. They are also lurking towards the bottom of the Championship ad it would probably be a huge financial kick if they went down.
You would expect them to move one of their assets this window.

I liked the last winger/forward we bought from Brizzle.

You'd think Conway would be next in line but maybe a year or two away.

Massengo surely must be worth a million quid bid. |

Since the turn of the year hasn't he been playing as a left-winger? Maybe being seen as a long-term replacement for Wilf?

Very good player and definitely fits the profile.

I thought we already had the cream of the crop of the non scoring Ghanaian strikers.
Let's go for some goal scorers for a change. |

His age profile is good and would probably be ready to start in the PL after a number of seasons in the Championship. |
