Is this the reason why there are no signings this month?
There was a discussion on Talksport this morning about Palace's lack of dealings in the transfer market and Vieira's frustrations.

Well someone on the show (not Jordan) said they had insider info which was the reason why Vieira wasn't backed in the summer or this month is that the board aren't convinced on Patrick, they didn't feel he did enough last season with the team, given previous investment.

Interesting if true and would potentially explain where we currently are.

Sounds like absolute bullsh!t to me. We are in the midst of a huge turnover of literally the oldest squad in the division. It was not going to happen overnight people need to calm down.

It was Alex Crook, their so called “transfer guru” who’s about as useful as those 2 plums on SSN so I would take that with a pinch of salt

It's not down to pv we're not spending ,we aim to stay up if there confident we're do that we won't spend more that season and the wheel keeps turning it it what it is .

Bizarre take on things from TS.

My takeaway from last season is that PV proved himself to be qualified for PL level and would justify backing in the transfer market as a result.

I suspect the (excellent) article in The Athletic today by Woosie detailing our complex situation is more precise as to why we haven't spent more.

What previous investment and half the team had to be replaced in his first season.

We finished 12th, and if we hadn't lost to Everton after being 2 goals up we would have finished in our highest position of 9th.

I guess the risk averse point about Parish explains his apparent obsession with Gallagher (and AWB): players who've been successful here before, so less of a risk. (Although Batshuayi's second spell suggests that's not a failsafe policy.)
