Leeds (a) Sunday 9th April 2pm Live on Sky Sports

Why does the PL website have an asterisk next to our fixture with Leeds saying it's dependent on Champions League participation?

Have I woken up in 2029?

On the Palace website -

Fans should note that this match is subject to movement dependent upon the participation of Premier League clubs in the UEFA Champions League the following Tuesday.

Would be helpful if they could be a little more explicit as to whereabouts this could potentially move to!!

Not got a clue on that one Kirby. The play Arsenal the weekend before us but that would just be moved to the Sunday if needed. They play Liverpool the week after us - nothing in the midweek between.

I’m guessing that if Manchester City or Liverpool get scheduled to play in the Champions League on Tuesday 11th that their game on the 9th would be swapped with ours on the 8th. Just a guess though.

That would make sense

Sunday 9th April 2023
14:00
Southampton v Manchester City
Premier League

16:30
Liverpool v Arsenal

My guess is that we swap with one of the above if Manchester City or Liverpool get drawn to play in the CL on Tuesday 11th April.

Leeds 17.30. Looks like the last train back is 20.15. That's tight

That's ******* brilliant isn't it. I can't take the weekend off at work so I decided to wait for the date of our game to be decided before having the alternate day off. Now it can be played on both. Feck.

In the same boat…only consolation is it’s Easter Monday so I wouldn’t have to rush back Sunday eve but still jarring. I guess if City and Liverpool both go through the chances of it being moved are very high?

Absolute joke that we won't have the Leeds game confirmed for another few weeks, giving fans 3 and a bit weeks to arrange travel. Doubt there'll be many cheap train tickets at that point.

Not being a competition I ever usually take much notice of, the dates in question are:

22 Feb (tonight) - Leipzig v Man City (1st leg)

14 March - Man City v Leipzig (2nd leg)

15 March - Real Madrid v Liverpool (2nd leg)

17 March - Champions League Quarter Final Draw*

Champions League Quarter Final dates 11/12 April , 18/19 April

*anyone know roughly how quick the dates are selected for the games after the draw?!!

Delegates attending the draw for each club will usually try and get the precise fixture kick off times etc. sorted there and then before leaving. Sometimes it will go wrong depending on external factors like policing etc. if say multiple clubs from the city/area are in the draw. But again usually it is done in advance with a set of procedures from such organisations.

The Met Police for example would like one club at home at a time but there is a provision for more unique circumstances. Would be the same in Madrid if Atletico and Real were both in the draw and what not.

If I have read correctly there is a bigger chance that we will be playing Sunday rather than Saturday?

If Madrid knock Liverpool out and City get past Leipzig (seems the most likely outcome), then it’s 50/50 I think, just depends whether City get drawn on the 11th or 12th April.

Will also depends what happens with Man. United and the Europa League as I don't imagine that Greater Manchester Police will want two sets of European away fans having any time of crossover point in the City Centre.

Good spot, although do UEFA generally care about policing requests? Last season Sevilla, Betis, Frankfurt and West Ham all played on the same night in Seville.
