Jefferson Lerma - signs three year deal

This is picking up a lot of momentum so I think it deserves its own thread but him on a free also he requests one free punch to andersens nose when he joins surely an offer he can’t refuse?

Seems a decent replacement for Luka.

I mentioned it on another thread that I wondered how he feels about Palace after the Andersen punch. Andersen just laughed at him when it happened and if it was truly an accident then I would have hoped Andersen would had apologized to him and made sure he was okay. Sadly, Andersen seems a bit of a plank.

Just seen on Twitter that we'll have to pay Joa a fee as he owns Lerma.

My view on him is that we need back-up for Doucoure so it'd be a wise move on a free.

I'm not sure he's first 11 though, but the squad needs a player like him.

But would he be happy on the bench when he could re sign for Bournemouth and be a regular starter ?

Doesn't really fit the buying style now at 28 but would be a decent squad player. I wonder if people have just seen that we have paid for nose surgery and thought that the signing of that contract meant something else though.

Doubtful.

Just been looking into him a bit. Primarily CDM but happy as a CM and has also played RB. Has scored 5 this year too.

Earns £50k per week and is their highest earner.

I think he fits very well as a squad player at that age. No fee, reasonable wages around or below PL wages, 3 year deal to cover two starting CMs alongside Hughes, Schlupp and Ahamada and then replaced by an Academy graduate like JW-M or Ozoh.

Ah, but by the time his signing on fee is factored in, the BBS's resident wage expert will tell us he's on 100 grand a week

If you watched the game, after his initial reaction. it looked like he did exactly that when Lerma stayed down.

Think he’d see plenty of games, going to need a solid base to play off if we’re looking for a more progressive right-back

Definitely. We play 3 central midfielders with 2 wide, and in the central areas we have..

Doucoure
Hughes
Schlupp
Eze
Ahamada

Assuming Luka leaves, maybe Macca retired, plus the eternal Jairo debate unless we sell him. One and maybe two are needed in there.

If Hughes is sold then this would be a decent replacement.

Hughes only has a year left on his deal and haven’t heard anything about an extension and would imagine he’s prefer to go somewhere where he would get more game time.

Probably not for this thread, AJ, but I tend to think he was bemused by Lerma falling over so easily.

Think he comes and starts in that ‘8’ role where schlupp normally does.
