Shops closing no later than 5.30pm everyday, early on Wednesday about 1pm and not opening at all on Sundays.

My mum used to get those, she would bring in sandwiches and save them up. They'd either go towards our food shopping bill (they'd take them at supermarket tills) or about once a year a family meal at a Berni Inn!

Getting the stamp for them and then finding a post box is always the PITA! Haven't sent one from abroad for years, tend to put a few pics on facebook and if I need to communicate then it's email.

You'd always get home before the postcards anyway!

It’s sad about buffet cars with sit down meals and drinks. You still get them on the continent.

As far as I know this is the last dining cart left in the U.K.

Seat61 is a brilliant website about train travel. I have a flying phobia so it’s very useful for me.

Sat in a couple of absolutely fantastic dining cars on the continent this summer. Lovely having a drink looking at the views.

It’s not. When I was a kid the windscreen would be absolutely splattered. Now on motorways I barely see any on the windscreen.

My daughter still sends them when we go away. But sadly a lot less people do.

Not in my bit of the UK. In the early 90's when I first drove, any drive in the early summers evening would leave a dead zoo on the windscreen and lights. Now, nothing. Last summer driving through France, it was a bit like it used to be, but the difference in the UK is staggering. Had to get special spray to get rid of it, not any more....

This bugs me every time I get on a train, often found myself having a laugh with other fans at those bars. Sometimes it would go the other way, but that in itself was quite good fun as well. I saw Charlie Austin leaning gloomily against one of those bars after he'd missed a penalty against us.

Most of the insects went back to mainland Europe after Brexit.
