Fulham (h) 23/09/23
Johnstone Ward - Andersen - Guehi - Mitchell Ayew - Doucoure - Lerma - Eze Mateta - Edouard Henderson, Clyne, Richards, Holding, Hughes, Schlupp, Ahamada, Rak-Sakyi, Ebiowei Think the 4-4-2 works better than the 4-2-3-1. Every time we’ve had to change to the former during a game, we start looking better. Hopefully all players listed are fit. |

An attacking one in the 1st half - a formation that does not sit 6 ft off it’s player & sits deep in its own half I’m sick of watching it - Force the bloody errors put your opponents under pressure !!!! That formation means any damn player who puts on red n blue.
Also if you have been dispossessed go & get it don’t stroll back & let your defenders do all the work ! That bloody formation Plus the one where the killer pass makes it the one where you’re in the six yard box & you don’t wait for the opposing team to get 6 back in the box ! Bloody shooting formation even , get this even if it’s outside the box - shock horror who’d have thought that as a concept at Palace ? |

Whoever is fit then they start. We have got to that point by week 6 of the season

I think we only have 11 players who are fit so they will start. Even the manager is injured.

Yep, our lack of depth already exposed. It was so obvious. Very frustrating to be in this position already.

We are very predictable that in last 10 mins we give away goals - our legs are shot to be persistent in running. Ward is unable to last 90 / Schlupp also !
The last goal was terrible defending desperation not thinking who runs at player who marks incoming players. So Paddy will need to watch with the team this game twice - for Fulham formation & state of play |

We are not the only team with several early season injuries.

I'm going with ayew and a dead leg is fit. Lerma having a scan probably not. Geuhi 50:50 but has irritated an ongoing issue, don't risk him if not 100%. Richards was excellent, as was Hughes.
----------------------Johnstone--------------- Ward----andersen------Richards----Mitchell ------------doucoure-------hughes--------------- JRS--------------------eze-------------------ayew -------------------------eddie--------------------------- Harsh on JP, whose been excellent this season. The reason is 1) olise coming back soon and the above will be our best tactic. 2) we need the ability to make a change. To disrupt the game, mess with the opposition. If we use jp from the start then the only changes we have are less of a threat tbh. 3) JP is great with space. You get more space as the game goes on and I think with him we have potential super sub stuff. It's not a slur, it's his best role imo. If geuhi 100% fit he comes in for Richards. Richards was excellent so I'm not keen on rushing him. Lerma has been epic but so has Hughes. I'm 50:50 on that one. If both available I'd go 433 tbh. It seems defensive but all of doucoure, lerma and Hughes are capable of breaking the lines. It poses an interesting challenge to opposition as they simply can't leave any of them the space to run forward or they've got an overload to deal with. Despite the injury crisis we find ourselves in we do have enough. Please please please no more injuries.

I know. I dont think it'll happen. But Jeff is on to win tbe ball more than jrs. He still can but only if its within 5 yards or he doesn't move. So I dont see the point in having him when jrs offers meh defensively but more going forward

I agree that we looked better with both playing together.

I wonder how injured Johnstone and Ayew were?

Still very funny to see them struggle though. |

Lamenting injuries and lack of squad depth? Just the facts really. The post match FYP pod was spot on with their assessment of where we are I thought.

A lot of complaining about squad depth. But Hughes and Richards came in and had good games and Mateta came off the bench and got an assist (again).
Not really sure what people expect. |
