Is Fulham considered South London?
While on a trip last week a guy (American) picked up on my accent and asked what team I supported. I told him Palace, and he told me he was an Arsenal fan. Fair enough, I get this all the time, and just glad he wasn't a Manchester United fan as most say they are.
Anyway, he asked me where Crystal Palace is, and I tell him South London, and we are the only Premier League team in South London. He comes back with, "And Fulham". I was going to explain the whole South of the River being considered South London, of which Fulham and Chelsea are not. I though better of it, as he was coming across as a bit self-righteous about it, and not wanting to embarrass myself. I do know the Fulham and Chelsea Postal Codes contain SW (South West) so can see the confusion this might cause, but I'm going to stick to my guns and say the River is the divide between North and South London. Just wanted to ask the Good Ship BBS for an opinion. |

The answer is a definite no.
My nan was born in Battersea and left South London when she married and moved to Fulham. She hated being up north(west). |

The river is the final arbiter. Yanks know nothing about Soccerball.

No no no. There is South London and north london, divided by the river.
If northerners want to quibble among themselves and declare some of their patch "west london" or "east london" bully for them but its of no interest to right thinking people.

Fulham ground is on the riverbank, and it is the north bank of the Thames. South bank is Putney.
Chelsea ground is in Fulham Broadway. QPR is the other team in that borough who hate Chelsea and many don’t know that and when they get lost in Shepherds Bush with a Chelsea top, they get a good hello from Rangers fans |

They would call themselves a London club.

They would call themselves an east London club, surely? I had to travel a million miles east to see Palace losing 3-0 there years ago. I think Mullins was playing for them and CPFC were effing shit.

I’ve never heard a Arsenal fan call Arsenal a north london club, or a West Ham fan call themselves an east London club. Not once.

You could have confused the hell out of him by saying Arsenal is historically a South London club.

Fulham have a SW postcode, so in that sense are South London, but I agree with the consensus on here that North or South of the Thames is what matters.
But on a similar ilk, Palace are a South London club, not a South East London club. We have an SE postcode (there is no S postcode in London) but we are slap bang central in South London, not to the East.
